EVA Sole - What does EVA mean in footwear?

You've probably seen the term EVA pop up time and time again when looking for a trainer. EVA is a very important material in footwear, that's why we at HZEDINBURGH use it in all our sneakers! If you want to know what is EVA and why it is so important in footwear, the Serta team will explain to you the core advantages of EVA and how to apply it in footwear to make your shoes super comfortable!

What is EVA?

EVA stands for ethyl vinyl acetate and is a foam material that is very similar to rubber. It is naturally elastic and has rubber-like properties such as softness and flexibility. EVA is used in many different products, from food packaging and cable insulation to yoga mats and footwear!

In shoes, EVA is used as a cushioning material and is often used in the midsole of shoes because EVA is a good shock absorber; reducing the impact on the foot while running. EVA foam is also very durable and can withstand extreme temperatures.

What makes EVA so great?

The EVA is very light, making the shoe feel light on your foot, which is a huge benefit when you use the shoe for running and sports!
EVA is softer than rubber, giving your feet more flexibility and comfort.
EVA has shock-absorbing technology; most running shoes use EVA for this reason.

HZEDINBURGH's goal is to create shoes that make our customers feel like walking on clouds! That's why we use EVA in all of our women's sneakers. An EVA midsole keeps the sneaker light on the foot, and a cushioned sole makes these sneakers great for the gym and all-day wear. Shop the full range here.
